Designing for an Arts Club is a challenge, but one Donald was more than up to. He showed patience and sympathy with our institutional sensitivities, and was able to steer us to solutions which felt right for us but which also harnessed the best of what the technology could offer.
Geoffrey Mathews, Club Secretary and Chief Executive of Chelsea Arts Club Trading Ltd

Chelsea Arts Club is one of London’s oldest private members club and has a membership list comprising of some of the most renowned creative artists and designers in the world. Chelsea have been clients from 2010 when our first iteration of the web site was created. A subsequent re-design of the site was required in part due to the on-going changes in cross-platform use by users (tablet and mobile) and also to a shift in emphasis of what on-line content would be available to members.

Amongst the priorities, a new public-facing side of the web site was required in addition to the existing private (password protected) members side. The re-design also had to make access of content more intuitive whilst preserving the sense of eclecticism and creativity inherent in the club’s ethos and reflected in the first version of the site.

We started the with an AI re-design of the site based on Google site traffic analytics which included a content audit / review, navigation and user-flows. This initial work was followed by Interactive wireframe prototypes which gave the client a feel how accessible the new content structure would be.
Two initial visual design routes were explored and after UX testing with a group of users to validate the design approaches, the final design was chosen and coded into fully responsive templates for integration with the existing WordPress CMS system.
